Tummy time with Kendrick

With each week, we see yet another little milestone in Kendrick's development. After some 'training' given by his grandparents, Kendrick is now able to lie on his tummy and raise his head up a little bit more stronger than before. I know some babies were able to do this much earlier, but it's ok. Every baby is different. They will get there somehow, just like Kendrick did and Daddy and Mummy are real proud of him :) He will only get better with time!

Daddy also played with Kendrick quite a bit this weekend by letting him sit on his own tummy and shaking him a bit now that his neck is stronger and can support himself fairly well. Kendrick was especially tickled on this Sunday morning. He really laughed and made noises along with his laughter! I could not stop laughing at how cute the whole scene was :P When I tried, somehow I could not get the same effect as when Daddy does it...I guess the boyz love playing together!

Outings with Kendrick

We brought Kendrick out a couple of times this weekend as Dear and I were on leave. We went out for dinner, visiting Kendrick's grandparents, out for lunch, out to celebrate my birthday dinner too and even shopping. I think he is getting used to going out with us. Of course, it still can be a bit troublesome to prepare just to go out, but it's becoming part and parcel of our lives already.

So here's some latest photos that we took this weekend...

Totally stunned

Immunisation Jab (11 Apr 2008)

We brought Kendrick for his 3 month old immunisation jab on Friday morning. Surprisingly, Kendrick slept long through the night and woke around 7am. That was just nice to feed him and then get ready to bring him to the polyclinic for the injection at 8plus. He was pretty well-behaved when the nurse checked him and also asked me some questions. As at now, Kendrick weighs 6.5kg and has grown to 62.5cm tall. According to the nurse, he's in the 75th percentile, so that's pretty fine. With the doctor, she also did a routine check up for Kendrick and we were quite surprised to note that he was very alert and turned left and right when the Doctor shook a rattle toy to test his response and hearing. He also 'talked' to the Doctor a little and smiled, hence named 'Ji Zha Gong' by the Doctor :) He was fine otherwise, so paid for the 5:1 jab for Kendrick. I guess by the time he took the jab, Kendrick was already feeling sleepy so he just started to nap when we had to wake him up. That's when he started to get very grumpy and cried and continued to do so after he had the jab. Took us some time to calm him down and get him to nap again.

Back home, perhaps the tiredness of the morning's outing caused him to sleep quite long. We were warned that he could have some fever so we fed
him one dose of medicine first. Kendrick was fine until evening...that's when the fever started to kick in. Dear and I actually took him out for dinner and walking around and he was really well-behaved. Towards the end, he actually fell asleep and forgot about his milk time. That's when I suspected he may have fever. Back home, we checked and indeed his temperature was about 37.6 deg. Fortunately, he was still quite ok. Had milk and took medicine and that night, he slept pretty fine. By the next morning, his fever was still not really subsided yet, so Dear and I decided to give him a little bit of cold towel on the forehead to keep him cool. Thankfully, after another does of medicine and rest, he was finally clear of the fever by night time.

Though a little cranky over the 2 days, Kendrick was still relatively well-behaved for most of the time. Here he is responding calmly to the cold towel...

The medicine seemed to have some drowsy effect as Kendrick slept quite a bit in the day time

3 months milestone

Kendrick turned 3 months old on 7 Apr and to me, that's another milestone in his life right now. So far, his neck has gotten stronger and is able to support himself quite well when we hold him in a sitting position. Of course, he is just as alert and always looking at the things we do as well as talkative...making all his baby noises and wanting people to talk to him. Trying my best to explain things to him whenever possible as I read that their brains are just absorbing everything around him.

We are also trying to get Kendrick to have a bit more 'tummy time' to strengthen his muscles to be used when he flips over next time. He does not really like it so far and tends to cry after a while, but whenever we can, we just try to give him some 'practice'....

This was the best so far that he managed to lift his head up...still not too good at it

Playing with Kendrick

Dear took care of Kendrick on his own for about 3 hours today when I went out for facial in the morning. Proud of Daddy!! He was able to play with Kendrick, feed him and bathe him all by himself and then put him to nap too :) When I came back, Kendrick was napping initially, but as he heard my voice, he woke and we played quite a bit. So here's some shots of him this weekend. He's turning 3 months old on 7 Apr already! How fast....

After a week at work

Went back to work on Monday and that was the first day that Kendrick started going to my parents in law place for the day till evening. That first day was most unbearable. I still remember Kendrick happened to sleep quite long through the night and just as I was about to be ready at close to 8am, he suddenly stirred to wake. However, as he was not fully ready to wake and he suddenly heard my parents in law come in and talk to him, he started to cry as if stunned. Took him a while to calm down. You can imagine how heart pain I was to leave the house. While his grandpa carried him, I waved goodbye to him and Kendrick looked sad. As if I was throwing him aside! During lunch, I called my parents in law to find out how was Kendrick and was told that they had great difficulty bathing him as he cried terribly and refused to stay in the bathtub. He also did not want to sleep in the room. Then they tried putting him in the hall and he got better. Nevertheless, the first day seemed traumatic for him as it was a big change from his usual routine with me. Hearing all of that made me even sadder, but I could only look forward to going back home after work. And indeed, being the first day at work, I left pretty on the dot. Glad that he still smiled at me when he saw me, but I could tell that he was quite tired. When Dear and I brought him home after dinner, he was indeed really sleepy.

Well, the rest of the week got better with each day. Kendrick actually adapted quite well to the change after about 2 - 3 days. By the 4th day, he was pretty much ok already, quite comfortable staying at his grandparents home in the day and coming back home to play with Daddy and Mummy at night. I admit that it was quite tiring. Somehow, I felt really sleepy by the time Kendrick had to sleep after his last feed and thus hit the sack the moment Kendrick did. At least he woke around 5 plus or 6 plus in the mornings so far, so I managed to catch some 5 - 6 hours of sleep in a stretch.

You can imagine how much I looked forward to the weekends so that we can rest and relax with him and have more personal time with him. So thus, this is the first weekend with Kendrick after going back to work. He is still as cheerful, lovely and adorable! Love him so much!!
