Haircut and Standing Up

We brought Kendrick for another haircut on Saturday morning. Luckily he managed to nap a short while while Mummy and Daddy had their hair trimmed first. When Kendrick was up, it was his turn and he was quite well-behaved. Daddy carried him this time and Mummy distracted him with a toy during the hair cut. Anyway, we merely neatened up Kendrick's hair this round and hope that his hair will continue to grow thicker!

This weekend we also witnessed Kendrick standing up on his own a number of times when we put him in the hall. He used the sofa for support to stand up and he was really getting a hang of it as he did it real quick! He also likes to hold onto our hands for support to lift himself up and when he does so, he feels happy! Haha....on the road to independence ya....slowly but surely it will come...

In terms of speech, Kendrick has still been saying 'Da-da', 'Ba-ba' and now a little bit more times of 'Ma-ma'. I wouldn't say that he truly knows how to say the right word to the right person, but there are just a few occasions it seemed that he did. Perhaps it's just a fluke shot. Hehe. Very cute to hear his baby talk :)

Finally in terms of food, Kendrick seemed to enjoy porridge better after we introduced him to 'ngor he' (threadfin) this week. My MIL said that he seemed to taste the 'sweetness' of the fish and was able to eat better. We also tried to give him a bit of fruits every day...mainly apple and banana so far and he is also enjoying it :) Good boy!

In the morning before going for haircut
Like trying to show off by lifting off one foot from the ground!
This is post haircut where we are in the car on the way home. Can you see one of Kendrick's lower tooth? Seems like the other one is on its way out too...
Playing at home after the haircut
New toy! Actually still got some more...but slowly give...Mummy will give you one more on Children's Day...kekeke
Feeling very happy when he stood up by himself :)
Favourite activity..playing with any TV controller

What an eventful weekend

This weekend had been rather eventful for the following reasons:
  • Kendrick kept saying the words 'ba', 'dare-dare' and 'neh-neh'. Wonder why he became so talkative lately..perhaps part of the speech development in babies? Anyway, wherever he was, Kendrick would keep saying these mono-syllable words as if he was talking. When he sees strangers, he would also make the sound 'eh' as if he was calling out to them. Quite funny :P
  • Finally tried letting Kendrick eat porridge. So far I've only let him eat cereal with vege for meals other than milk and some occasional fruits. When he first tried porridge on Friday evening, he didn't like it and couldn't really eat it. Partly also because my MIL didn't cook the porridge fine enough. So on the weekends I tried out and cooked the porridge much longer so that it is much finer and softer. Although Kendrick still did not really like it by the look on his face and his spitting out at times, he still managed to eat up about half a bowl each time. I gave him carrots and 'heng cai' as a start. Thinking of letting him eat some fish this week :)
  • Managed to close 2 deals through the motherhood forum to buy second hand car seat and playpen for my PIL place, and we collected these 2 items this weekend. The car seat was mainly because Kendrick is getting a little out of hand and struggling a lot even when seated in the car so I felt it was easier and also safer to get my PIL a car seat for their car too. The playpen would also be put at their home so that Kendrick can have a safer environment to crawl and stand (which he is en-route to achieve by himself). This active boy is already starting to touch everything and even when out of reach, he seems to be attempting to climb towards it! Hopefully the playpen will serve some use for some time! Just quite glad that at least buying the items second hand means I don't have to spend so much money!

Now for some photo updates:

Standing in his cot...though it was Mummy who put you there to take photo. Haha...Kendrick has not fully learnt to stand by himself yet, but he's almost there already as he attempts to every time..

Trying on the cap that Daddy bought for you from US

Tried very hard to take photo of your tooth and these are the best shots so far...will try again another day!

Kendrick, can you sit still for a while?!

Haha...I guess the answer is no... :P Gosh, Kendrick is really so energetic nowadays and making so much noise!! When he first wake up in the morning, he will almost immediately move into his crawling mode and start crawling and moving all over the place. In addition, he would 'talk' to himself by making noises and LOUDLY too....don't wake up also cannot! When playing on the bumper mat , he would also make lots of loud noises. Wonder if he is trying to mimic adult talk or perhaps it's part of the development where babies are slowly learning about speech.

When carrying him, it's also very difficult for Kendrick to really sit still. Need to maneuver here and there, climb or try to stand on our lap. I really wonder how I will go through the phase when he starts to learn how to walk! It will probably be a nightmare! LOL....

Happy 8mth old day!

Kendrick turns 8 months old today!! Gosh..another 4 more months and we will be celebrating your 1 year old birthday... Haha...anyway, I think you are developing rather well so far Kendrick so let's see what we've noticed about your developmental milestones so far:
  • Says 'Ba Ba' every once in a while. Seem to know that Daddy is 'Ba Ba', but not very consistent still
  • This weekend is also the first time that Mummy heard you say 'Ma Ma' for the first time! You said it a few times, but still not very consistent too
  • Willing to hold your own milk bottle already at every feeding
  • Seem to indicate you want milk but making some "mmm" sound. Wonder if you are trying to say milk?!
  • Passes objects from hand to hand
  • Picks things up with thumb finger pincer grasp
  • Bangs objects - also like to beat your hand against the table surface
  • Able to move easily from crawling position to sitting position
  • Lunges forward easily and is able to crawl forward and all about. Knows when to turn and adjust your direction
  • Just learnt to say 'Bye Bye' by waving your hand. However, still need more prompting before you do so
  • Showed us this weekend that you want to stand while holding onto an object. I guess this will take a while more before you can really do it well. But if Mummy offer you my hands, you seem to be able to push yourself to a standing position
  • Starts to experience some stranger anxiety
  • Finally can see your lower tooth coming out already! One side is coming out first and that also means you are starting to drool more now

Some swimming videos (5 Sep 2008)

Here's a video of Kendrick playing with water while on the float =)

Here's when Kendrick got a little scared while using the neck float...

Eventful Day! (5 Sep 2008)

It was quite an eventful Friday for us and Kendrick. Well, first of all, Dear and I were on leave on Friday so we went to collect Kendrick's passport in the afternoon. Yeh, we made the passport first as we are thinking of bringing Kendrick to Malaysia next month. Luckily the collection turned out to be quite fast since we had appointment. So after that, we headed over to Bugis Junction for lunch. A short while of shopping and Mummy bought a few items. He He... After that, we headed home as we intended to bring Kendrick for a swim if the weather was good.

Before heading out to collect passport

Having our lunch...and here's Kendrick's passport!

Fortunately, the weather was good for a swim. Wanted to let Kendrick take another short nap before going as his nap when we were at the shopping centre was quite short. Somehow he refused and we decided head out at around 4.30pm. Went to SAFRA Yishun and we were quite excited to see how Kendrick would react. I changed him into his Baby Fox swimwear and Daddy took him the the wading pool. We also let Kendrick try out the neck float which I bought second hand from someone in the motherhood forum. Well, I guess I didn't really expect him to be scared of the water! It was a little difficult at first as Kendrick kept fretting and refusing to swim on his own with the neck float. After several attempts and Daddy holding onto him more, Kendrick finally got a little more used to the swimming pool. Still, he did not really like the neck float. We tried the other sitting float that we bought and it was slightly better. But he mostly enjoyed it better when Daddy was carrying him about in the water.

Kendrick fretting and feeling scared about his first swimming attempt!

The only shot I managed to get of Kendrick smiling

More of Kendrick trying to crawl (5 Sep 2008)

Managed to video Kendrick trying to crawl again when I was on leave on Friday. He still seems a little awkward doing it, especially coz' his right leg would seem to stick out more. Haha. But good attempt anyway! It was also this day that Kendrick attempted to stand up while holding onto his bumbo seat. I did not manage to film that down but Dear and I sort of saw his attempt. This weekend we also came to witness Kendrick get even more mobile on our bed. He not only could crawl or move forward with greater ease, he also attempted to climb over obstacles like our bolster! Must really keep a watch over him tightly!

Signs of teething

I have been observing Kendrick's gum for some time to see if he is teething. Just last night, I think I saw what seems to be signs of it! On his lower gum, there is this slight marking where the tooth is about to sprout out. Though nothing is out yet, I can see a very slight semi-transparent top of the tooth! When I allowed him to bite my finger just to test...I could also feel it. It feels different from having him bite me with just his gum. Anyway, he has also been behaving a little cranky at nights. Wonder if it's due to that. Well, I suppose I might be seeing the actual teeth come out soon!

Celebrating "Wai Po's" Birthday

We brought Kendrick out to celebrate my Mum's birthday this evening by having dinner. It's also the first time I decided to let Kendrick try wearing the pair of Fox baby shoes that I bought for him at a sale. I had wanted to keep it till Chinese New Year next year, but I was worried about whether it might be too small to keep till next year, as I did not manage to get the biggest size during the sale. Well, true enough, the shoe fits him just nice for now. Thought it was pretty cute seeing him wear shoes. Like a big boy!
